How GWR Colourfast® began ...
As a company, GWR Fasteners Limited was already serving the fasteners market with many different ranges of nuts, bolts, screws, washers, threaded bar, bar materials, etc. One of those ranges was, and still is, anodised aluminium fasteners in various colours. These are great for cosmetic or aesthetic purposes. However there is an issue with aluminium. Due to its very nature of being soft and lacking in strength, aluminium cannot be used in any stress points where excessive pressure can cause deformities in the metal.
Gary Robinson, our Managing Director, who has an inquisitive engineering mind, decided to design a process whereby a coating can be applied to stainless steel fasteners so that not only do they have aesthetic properties, they also have practical capabilities too. Hence, GWR Colourfast® was born back in 2011.

So what exactly is GWR Colourfast®?
GWR Colourfast® is a transparent coating applied to any stainless steel fastener or component. It is available in blue, red, black, green, brass or copper. Unfortunately, we cannot divulge our exact process because that would be giving away our company secrets.
What we can say is that GWR Colourfast® is RoHS compliant. Cadmium, Lead, Mercury, PBB, PBDE and CrVI are not used in the manufacture of our products and are therefore absent in anything more than trace impurity levels in the GWR Colourfast® products.
To protect the coating, we suggest you use the correct size of spanner (not a ring spanner) or the correct size of allen key. It is very important that you do not over-torque the fastener. Clean with soapy water and a soft non-abrasive cloth. Avoid acidic, corrosive or abrasive products.

Additional information you should know about GWR Colourfast®
Due to the nature of our process, the colour and/or tone may vary in different lighting conditions, between batches of stainless steel (the coating reflects the metal underneath) and between production runs.
Also, please note that when we colour to order any bolts/screws, there will be one or two threads on the screw which will not be coated. Rest assured, however, the coating does not affect the efficiency of the threads.
We have standard fasteners for sale on our website from M3 sizes to M8 sizes, however, if larger sizes are required or larger batch quantities, please Contact Us.
